Appell zur Unterstützung der Menschen im Iran
In einem gemeinsamen Aufruf fordern über 70 Aktivisten und Menschenrechtsorganisationen, Sanktionen gegen das menschenrechtsverachtende iranische Regime zu verhängen. Der Aufruf zeigte bereits kleinen Erfolg: Die SPD-Parteivorsitzende Saskia Esken kündigte an, einige der Forderungen umsetzen zu wollen. J’accuse!
Eine große Protestwelle rollt durch alle Teile des Iran.
Proteste, die durch die Ermordung der 22-jährigen Mahsa Jina Amini durch die so genannte Sittenpolizei ausgelöst wurden. Proteste, die sich auf die Folgen von vier Jahrzehnten der Unterdrückung stützen. Vier Jahrzehnte, in denen das Regime im Iran die Stimmen der Frauen, kritische Stimmen jeglicher Art durch Gewalt, Einschüchterung, Inhaftierung, Folter und Mord zum Schweigen gebracht hat. Vier Jahrzehnte, in denen junge Menschen im Iran ihre Jugend verloren haben, weil sie all das wollten, was wir alle wollen: lachen und leben, lieben und tanzen, studieren und arbeiten, eine Meinung haben und sie äußern dürfen, eine Wahl haben und eine Entscheidung treffen dürfen, frei sein.
Diese jungen Iranerinnen und Iraner sind mutig und tapfer und nicht länger bereit, sich der Rücksichtslosigkeit des Regimes zu beugen. Sie kämpfen um ihr Leben, und sie kämpfen mit ihrem Leben. Währenddessen macht sich das iranische Regime die eigene Bevölkerung zum Feind, indem es sie inhaftiert, foltert und tötet. Und es verärgert die „freie Welt“ mit einem grausamen Schachspiel und einer Geiselpolitik, bei der Menschen mit doppelter Staatsangehörigkeit oder auch ohne iranischen Pass im Iran als Schachfiguren eingesetzt werden. Sie foltern sie in Einzelhaft, verweigern ihnen die grundlegenden Menschenrechte und zerstören ihr Leben und das ihrer Familien. Aber fühlt sich die freie Welt überhaupt angegriffen?
Angesichts von Ungerechtigkeit und Unterdrückung haben demokratische Länder die Pflicht, ihre Stimme zu erheben und eine Entscheidung zu treffen: Stellen wir uns auf die Seite der Unterdrücker oder auf die Seite derer, die nach Freiheit und Gerechtigkeit rufen? Während die Ukrainer gegen einen Eindringling von außen kämpfen, kämpfen die Iraner gegen einen inneren Feind – das Regime. Die „freie Welt“ hat bewiesen, dass sie in der Lage ist, den Kampf für die Freiheit der Ukraine zu unterstützen, Sanktionen wurden innerhalb weniger Tage beschlossen, klare Maßnahmen wurden ergriffen.
Jetzt ist es an der Zeit, zu handeln und das iranische Volk in seinem Kampf gegen eine Diktatur zu unterstützen. Das Regime der Islamischen Republik Iran hat immer wieder sein vielschichtiges, furchtbares Gesicht gezeigt. Wir haben gesehen und gehört, zu welchem Terror es fähig ist. Die Staats- und Regierungschefs der demokratischen Länder haben die Pflicht, Maßnahmen zu ergreifen und den Iran für die zahlreichen Menschenrechtsverletzungen an der eigenen Bevölkerung sowie an den Geiseln – mit iranischer, anderer oder doppelter Staatsangehörigkeit – zur Rechenschaft zu ziehen.
Zan, Zendegi, Azadi! (Frau, Leben, Freiheit!)
A large wave of protests is roaming through all parts of Iran.
Protests that have been sparked by the murder of 22-year-old Mahsa Jina Amini by the so- called morality police. Protests that are based on the consequences of four decades of oppression. Four decades during which the regime in Iran has been silencing the voices of women, the voices of critiques of any kind through violence, intimidation, imprisonment, torture and murder. Four decades of lost youth for young Iranians wanting all the things that we all want: to be able to laugh and live, to love and dance, to study and work, to have an opinion and to be allowed to express it, to have a choice and to be allowed to make a decision, to be free.
These young Iranians are bold and brave and not willing to give into the ruthlessness of the regime any longer. They are fighting for their life and they are fighting with their lives. Meanwhile, the Iranian regime is antagonizing their own population by imprisoning, torturing and killing. And it is antagonizing the “free world” with a cruel game of chess with a hostage taking policy using dual citizens or non-Iranian citizens as pawns. Torturing them in solitary confinement, denying them basic human rights, destroying their lives and those of their families.
But is the free world feeling antagonized at all? In the face of injustice and oppression, democratic countries have a responsibility to speak out and have a choice to make: Will we side with the oppressor or with the ones screaming for freedom and justice? While Ukrainians are battling an outside invader, Iranians are fighting an inside enemy – the regime. The “free world” has proven that it is capable of supporting the fight for freedom of Ukraine, sanctions have been decided within days, clear actions have been taken.
Now is the time to take action and to support the Iranian people in their struggle against a dictatorship. The regime of the Islamic Republic of Iran has shown its multilayered dreadful face over and over again. We have seen and heard the terror they are capable of. The leaders of democratic countries have a responsibility to take action and hold Iran accountable for the numerous human rights abuses of their own population and of the dual national, mono-national and foreign national hostages.
